Choosing Your Canvas

When choosing a canvas it is important to consider two questions.

  • Firstly which style wrap would you prefer?
  • Secondly, what thickness of frame would you like. Below are clear example of the two choices - which are thick or thin frames.

If you are unsure about any of the above please don't hesitate to contact us and we will be more than happy to help you make the right choice.

Canvas Frame Types

Many photo to canvas companies when manufacturing their canvases reduce their costs by mounting your picture onto fixed frames - frames that are mass produced in the Far East. This is true of many high street stores and on-line canvas retailers.

It is vital that your canvas is mounted onto stretcher bars as overtime the canvas will 'sag'. This is true of every canvas.

However with stretcher bars it is possible to adjust the tension but simply adjusting the wedges thus keeping the canvas' taught. Riverside photo use only fir stretcher bars and supply the wedges to enable the end user to maintain the canvas. Please check to ensure that any other supplier does the same.
